ABOUT

Swastik Village

Welcome to Swastik Village: A Fresh Start in Bhaktapur, Nepal

In the heart of Bhaktapur, Nepal, we are starting an exciting project called Swastik Village, spread out over a 2500 square meter area currently used as a small rice field. Our goal is big: we want to tap into Nepal’s strong farming roots to help bring back our young people and women to agriculture. Many young folks are moving to cities, leaving a lot of our fertile land unused. This gives us a great chance to grow our economy and take care of our environment at the same time.

What is Swastik Village All About?

Swastik Village is all about making a change. We’re planning to set up an organic farm that also serves as a place where people can learn about living sustainably. We’ll use permaculture methods, which means we'll work with nature, not against it. We’ll also focus on creating compost in ways that help the environment the most, and we’ll encourage people to buy and sell local produce. This is important because it helps everyone in the community become more self-sufficient, improves health, and takes care of our land. By tackling big issues like not having enough food and relying too much on outside help, we hope to build a strong, lasting community.

Swastik Village is more than just a farming project. It’s a new beginning for our community in Nepal, blending the best of our traditional practices with new, sustainable methods. We invite the world to join us in this exciting venture, and together, let's sow seeds of hope and prosperity in Nepal’s rich soil, one seed at a time.

Farmstay Experiences

Swastik Village offers a new way to see Bhaktapur. Visitors won’t just be tourists; they’ll be part of our community, learning about how we farm and live sustainably. They can also dive into our culture, joining in local arts, crafts, and festivals. This new approach to tourism helps us keep our traditions alive and makes sure our visitors have a meaningful, unforgettable experience.

How We Support Each Other: Empowering Local Businesses

In Nepal, community and family mean everything. Supporting local businesses isn't just about spending money; it’s about building stronger bonds within the community. When a local shop thrives, it’s a win for everyone, not just the shop owner. Our project will help these small businesses flourish, which keeps our traditions alive and strengthens our local economy. Creating jobs for locals is a key part of our mission. We provide training in farming, tourism, and business, which means good, stable jobs for people here. This helps our community grow stronger financially and socially.

Sustainable Development Goals we are willing to achieve

Our Village project supports and promotes four key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to foster a more resilient, educated, and self-sufficient community. Through hands-on learning in organic farming, permaculture, and eco-living, our visitors gain practical skills for sustainability while engaging deeply with the rich local culture. We embrace a holistic way of life rooted in harmony with nature and tradition.

We promote food security by teaching organic farming, seed saving, and permaculture techniques. Volunteers and guests learn how to grow nutritious, chemical-free food and support local efforts to create a resilient food system that meets community needs.

Our farm is a living classroom where participants gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, natural medicine, and traditional knowledge. Workshops and cultural exchanges offer lifelong learning opportunities for both local youth and international visitors.

By integrating traditional practices with modern sustainability principles, we help preserve Bhaktapur’s cultural heritage while promoting eco-friendly lifestyles. The project encourages community-based tourism and empowers locals to build more sustainable and self-reliant communities.

We work to protect and restore ecosystems by promoting biodiversity-friendly farming, reducing chemical use, and conserving soil and water. Our regenerative agriculture practices support the health of the land for future generations.
