Residency Bhaktapur

ABOUT

Swastik Residency

Opening in 2026

Swastik Residency is a creative home for artists, dreamers, and makers from around the world. Set in the inspiring, historic city of Bhaktapur, this shared living space invites both local and international artists to live, collaborate, and create together. Whether you're a painter, sculptor, writer, musician, or multimedia artist, Swastik Residency has private rooms within a shared house where art and culture come alive through daily exchange and shared passion.

Here, creativity isn’t confined to the studio. Residents can showcase their work through exhibitions and events that we help organize and promote — both within the space and in the wider Bhaktapur art community. From collaborative projects and public showcases to skill-sharing workshops and explorations of traditional Newar crafts, Swastik Residency is a place to grow, experiment, and be seen. It’s more than a residency — it’s a living canvas, shaped by the hands and hearts of the artists who pass through.

Local Artists

Our Residency has welcomed and supported a diverse group of talented local artists who draw inspiration from the city’s deep cultural roots and rich artistic heritage. These artists, working across mediums such as painting, pottery, woodcarving, ceramics, and traditional crafts, have used the residency to explore both contemporary expression and time-honored techniques. Their works often reflect the rhythms of rural life, spiritual symbolism, and the vibrant textures of Nepali culture, contributing to a growing creative dialogue between tradition and innovation in the heart of Bhaktapur.

    Past Residents

Over the years, our art residency in Bhaktapur has hosted a vibrant and diverse community of artists around the world. These past residents have brought unique perspectives and practices—from painting, sculpture, and photography to performance, installation, and traditional crafts. Immersed in the rich cultural setting of Bhaktapur, they’ve drawn inspiration from the daily rhythms of rural life, ancient architecture, and local festivals. Many have collaborated with local artisans, led workshops, and left behind site-specific works that continue to inspire. Their presence has helped build a growing creative dialogue between tradition and contemporary art, leaving a meaningful impact on both the local community and the residency itself.
